Governor DeWine, we are in strong opposition of passage of any bill that does not regulate concealed carry of firearms in Ohio and that passage of such a bill would mean:

• No background checks would be required of any person, and this could include criminal elements
• No safety training would be required of any person, including those who have never handled a gun before
• No understanding of the laws on self defense, especially for those who may shoot to kill under the guise of “I can stand my ground because that is now allowed in Ohio”

Furthermore Governor DeWine, passage would encourage:

• Vigilantism – and targeting innocent individuals by virtue of their skin color or nationality
• Giving the person holding a gun the right to instantly be judge, jury and executioner
• Normalizing guns in public – with more guns on the streets, in stores and restaurants, at large public gatherings – even city park and playgrounds
• An increase in racist actions and racism overall
• A sense that it is normal and okay to be a society controlled by weapons
