The heartbreak of gun violence on what should have been peaceful holiday time with family!

Even as the local and national news continue to report that more states are putting higher numbers of guns on the street and making it easier for people to buy and carry concealed weapons, there were three mass shootings across the country Easter weekend.

Ohio saw its share of gun violence this holiday weekend as well. The Gun Violence Archive showed 15 separate shooting incidents over the past 72 hours, some of which include:

• A 15 year old teen died after being shot multiple times in Mansfield – a city which experienced three shootings in just 19 hours
• A man survives after being shot in the face in Scioto County
• A Canton man was shot and sustained life-threatening injuries – and the city experienced five shootings in four hours last Tuesday
• A Columbus man died after a shooting early in the morning
• A Columbus woman was shot while driving her car and was taken to the hospital; she was shot by her passenger

This senseless gun violence has to stop! A recent news report shows Ohio Department of Health numbers indicating
that gun violence killed more Ohioans each of the last two years than almost any other year on record.
