Join with the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence for Giving Tuesday next week on December 1, 2020!  Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as a way to inspire others to do good and is observed the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is now a worldwide initiative through which people give, collaborate and celebrate generosity in support of non-profit organizations everywhere – and every give to OCAGV helps in its efforts to reduce gun violence in Ohio! Support OCAGV on December 1 through #GivingTuesday as we help bring awareness to the issues surrounding access to guns. OCAGV works as an independent coalition – and as a partner with many state and national groups committed to ending gun violence. Through social media, we provide awareness to the general public on the latest issues related to gun violence. OCAGV is the go-to source for mainstream media as they cover the increased incidence of gun violence in Ohio and its impact on communities and families; actions by the Ohio legislature that add to an already overwhelming number of injuries and deaths from a firearm; restrictions on individual municipalities preventing them from having the ability to regulate firearms or gun retailers within their own jurisdiction. This year through mid-November, OCAGV was interviewed and cited in over 30 different media sources. Through education, OCAGV has provided resources and information to businesses, schools, religious institutions, and other organizations. We have done this through hand-outs, information on our website, and working with educators and students at a number of Ohio schools. We continue to create opportunities through our first annual summit and subsequent quarterly virtual events that bring together numerous like-minded groups for which gun violence has a direct and life-threatening impact on their constituents.
